Chemotherapy Outreach Project - Providing cancer care in the community
Happy Birthday to the Chemotherapy Outreach Project!
Congratulations and a huge THANK YOU to all involved.
This service has been set up to enable cancer patients to receive their chemotherapy treatment and support closer to their homes in the Kingsbridge, Tavistock and Liskeard areas.
On 25th January 2012, we held events in all three locations to mark the first anniversary.
Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust Facebook page tracked the team's travel progress betwen the sites on the day
in our newly donated, specially equipped van.

Enormous thanks to Oakley Developments, Reddish Marine, Island St Bar & Grill and Coast & Country Cottages for donating our "Chemo Van."
Since the start of this enhanced service, more than 800 chemotherapy treatments have been given, closer to cancer patients' homes. These were administered by members of a highly qualified nursing team who take the treatments to the South Hams Hospital in Kingsbridge, Tavistock Hospital and Liskeard Community Hospital. This team has been funded by the local communities and we want to show just how much these communities efforts have helped support local people with cancer.
These patients, their families, friends and carers, have also benefited from the Triangle drop-in Cancer Support Centres. Treatment and support services are available on one day every week in these local communities; Tuesdays in Kingsbridge, Thursdays in Liskeard and Fridays in Tavistock.
